My Awesome Acrostic Poem

 Hey Bloggers,

Today on our google meets we learnt about acrostic poems. I love acrostic poems because its a type of poem and you get to put words in to order, for example you could write down your favorite animal. it might be a cat, so you write it down. For C you could do cake for A you could do apple and for T you could do tangerine. Today I will be sharing my acrostic poem with you.

Hope you like it:

My Holidays

Hey bloggers,
Today I will be sharing what I did in the holidays.
My holidays was quite boring. Only the last day of the holidays was fun. What am I talking about fun, no it was super duper fun. Should I tell you what I did? Fine, DRUM ROLL please. I went ICE SKATING!! If I went by myself it would've been so boring, but did I go by myself. If you said yes your wrong because I went with all of my cousins. We first got our sizes for our ice skates and we each needed a frame because it was our first time. All of us fell even with the frame. Then we got use to the ice. When you want to learn how to skate without the frames there is a huge board that shows you what to do. Me and my cousins wanted to learn without the frame so we copied and learnt everything we needed to learn to be a good skater and then we started riding without the frame. WOO HOO!!!
Thank you bloggers for reading my blog.
Please remember to give me some feedback about my writing.

Mahinga Kai Crusaders

Hey Bloggers,
Today I will be sharing what I learned in my reading.

Before the Europeans and long before the supermarket the Maori ranged for wide and far Mahinga Kai. Their food resources came from many different places like the forests, lakes, and the endless coastlines.

Karl Russel's considers himself as a very rich man. He hunts and collects food for himself. He can only eat the things he hunts, makes, and cooks. He says it isn't easy being a Mahinga Kai Crusader. Its all about sharing kai, and saving kai for the winter.

So what exactly is Mahinga Kai? According to Karl, it is anything that is edible that can be grown, collected, or caught close to home. Karl says that he will only eat it if it runs, walks, flies, or swims. In the last month Karl picked blackberries, plums, apples, pears, and watercress.

From nearby beaches, Karl collects sweet tasting kutai, paua, and kina. He said he used to catch cod, tarakihi, kahawai, and elephant fish right of the beach. Karl harvests kankana, patiki, inanga, herring, trout, salmon, and tuna.

Several times a year, Karl and his whanau head into the hills to hunt. They catch rabbits, hares, pigs, goats, deer, chamois, and thar. They make salami, saveloys, sausages, and bacon.

Tahu artist Simon Kaan's working day often starts before dawn, when hes on his surfboard, watching the sun rise over a beach on Otago Peninsula. As a professional artist, Simon is constantly looking for creative ways to tell a story.

One special video is from  Bluff Kaumatua Tiny Metzger. In the 1970s, he recorded the methods his whanau use to preserve titiin kelp bags. Simon's also excited about the website's international potential.

Now Simon has his own 3 young tamariki of his own, Simon is passing on his whanaus Mahinga Kai tradition. This is how the tradition Mahinga Kai is passed on.
