SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY

HEY BLOGGERS,

TODAY I WILL BE STARTING THE SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY DAY 1 ACTIVITY 2. THE WHOLE OF THE SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY IS ABOUT CHANGE MAKERS.

DISCOVERING AOTEAROA

MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT KUPE WAS THE FIRST MAN TO DISCOVER AOTEAROA, NEW ZEALAND IN 1300. HE NAVIGATED FROM HAWAIKI TO AOTEAROA BY USING THE SUN, STARS, AND THE OCEAN SWELLS.

LATER IN 1642 A MAN NAMED ABEL TASMAN CAME FROM THE NETHERLANDS. HE THOUGHT HE WAS THE FIRST MAN TO 'DISCOVER' NEW ZEALAND BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW THAT MAORI HAD ALREADY DISCOVERED AOTEAROA, NEW ZEALAND.

ACTIVITY

MY CULTURE IS KOUNAR, AFGHANISTAN.
MY FAMILY WAS BOUGHT UP IN AFGHANISTAN. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO AFGHANISTAN BECAUSE MY PARENTS TELL ME THAT IT'S TO DANGEROUS. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE HOW AFGHANISTAN REALLY LOOKS AND HOW IT FEELS BEING THERE. I WISH THAT ALL THE FIGHTING NEVER HAPPENED. MY DAD TOLD ME THAT IN THE OLDEN DAYS AFGANISTAN WAS SO PRETTY BUT WHEN THE FIGHTING AND WARS STARTED IT NEVER DID LOOK PRETTY AGAIN. LETS MOVE ON. SINCE I AM FROM AFGHANISTAN I SPEAK PASHTO. THERE ARE TWO OFFICIAL LANGUAGES THAT ARE SPOKEN IN AFGHANISTAN. THEY ARE PASHTO, AND DARI. FARSI IS ANOTHER LAUNGUAGE BUT IS'NT THAT POPULAR IN AFGHANISTAN.

Thank you for having a look at my blog post.

Please remember to comment and share some feedback so then next time I don't make the same mistakes.
Bye.

  1. Kia ora Fatimah,

I just wanted to start off by congratulating you on starting the SLJ. I then wanted to apologies, with my whole heart, for not coming across you blog earlier. I can see that you have created a few marvelous posts that I wish I saw earlier and our team could have encouraged you on your journey.

Wow, what an absolutely wonderful post you have created about the country that your family is from, Afghanistan. Afghanistan does sound like it was a beautiful place and I am glad your Dad still has fond memories of his country. Hopefully one day Afghanistan will become safe enough for you to visit and experience the culture for yourself.

Again, well done for jumping on board and completing some of the SLJ activities. It is so great to see you engaging in learning in your own time.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

    Have a great day,
    Megan :)
